This property is located near Ashfork, AZ. This is only one of 2 known "CHOCOLATE" sandstone quarries in Arizona. It is the only known quarry with chocolate and purple swirled together (chocolate royale). It is harder than regular sandstone so it can be split for patios, walls, etc. A hydrologist defined the sandstone as "mineral-rich banded quartz" and estimated the soil overlay at 3" to 6" maximum. Based on his estimates, the specialty rock goes all the way through the mountain with a minimum of 2,000,000 metric tons of salable rock. Profit potential has been estimated by 2 long time quarry owners as $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 annually with a "quarry life" of over 100 years. Known minerals on the property include silver, gold, copper, opals, fire agate. The property has "full use exemption" and a test quarry has been opened on the site. There are no zoning or building restrictions. The property lies within a small valley and has a hill top view. It is also a great piece of land for a cabin site.

Take HWY 89 North to 1-40. Turn Left onto Interstate and go West about 6.5 miles to Crookton Road. Turn Left on Crookton to cross over Interstate, and follow access road a short distance to ARIZONA ROAD (first main road to the Right). Stay on Arizona Road about 8 miles to quarry on Left side of the road. There should be a clearing just off the road with an old flatbed truck and some pallets of boulders. The test quarry and exposed cliffs can be seen just beyond a ravine. `Please note that Arizona Road takes a sharp turn to the Left and quickly back to the Right approximately 2.5 to 3 miles ( I think) after the access road (if you keep going straight, it is a different road). This little "jog" takes you around a small stock tank/cow pond (often dry) and immediately over a cattle guard.
