The results of the assaying of the samples from the Golconda Mine revealed the presence of gold! In addition, all equipment on-site at the Golconda Gold Mine at the time of closing will transfer with the claims.
The character of the La Cholla Placer gold-bearing gravels is quite uniform throughout the lateral extent of the workings available for research. The gravel is loosely consolidated and consists of un-assorted aggregate of sub-angular to slightly rounded blue-grey shale and quartzite fragments. The greatest concentrations of gold have been reported at or close to bedrock, however, gold is also reported as erratically distributed throughout the entire height of the gravels. Like the gravels, the gold is reported as characteristically angular and crystallized. The occurrence of gold in the deep placers of La Cholla group seems to be closely allied to the system of small gold-bearing quartzite veins of the district cutting through the shale.
