It is approximately 80 miles from the Lancaster/Palmdale area and approximately 120 miles from both Bakersfield and San Bernardino. Two major highways and the Inyokern Airport make Ridgecrest easily accessible to the rest of southern California. Ridgecrest acts as the urban center for northeastern Kern, Inyo and northwest San Bernardino Counties. The City's incorporated area has a population of 27,800. Many of the residents reside outside the City limits making the population even greater.
