About DACBOR

The Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® began formal operations January 1, 1994. The Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® had originally been under the jurisdiction of the South Oakland County Board of REALTORS® . As specialized needs of the community, sales associates, and the real estate profession became increasingly demanding, area commercial brokers founded an organization known as the Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® . The unanimous vote of the Board of Directors of the National Association of REALTORS® at its Annual Convention in November of 1993 approving the creation of the Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® recognized the importance of commercial brokers in Michigan.

During the first months of operations, the Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® established a permanent and visible office location within the Macomb County Association of REALTORS® with an efficient and effective office staff, enhanced member involvement through active committee work and significantly increased membership in its REALTOR® organization with membership approaching 300 as of December of 1997.

It became apparent that there was a need to insure continuity and responsible direction for the Board. In December of 1997, the Board of Directors of the Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® directed James Lambrecht to Chair a Strategic Planning Committee.

On December 5, 1997, the Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® Strategic Planning Committee met for the first time with the intention of delivering a comprehensive strategic plan to the Directors of the Detroit Area Commercial Board of REALTORS® by the Winter of 1998
