The State House Inn, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member is a 125-room, interior corridor, multi-storied hotel located in downtown Springfield, Illinois. This eclectic hotel is perfectly situated in the densly populated downtown region, straight across from the Illinois State Capitol. The property offers three small on-site meeting rooms, a large banquet hall divisible into three sections, and a full service bar and lounge. Guest rooms feature retro decor, work desk, iron and ironing board, flat screen television with cable and all other standard amenities. Originally built in 1961, the State House Inn is a concrete block and plank building, which was completely gutted out and renovated by the current ownership in 2004/2005. Major renovations items included new building facade including all new windows and curtain walls, roofing, electrical, guest rooms and bathrooms, doors and hardware, and complete overhaul of the four-pipe chiller system, all in all at a cost of $6.5M. The approximate 4,000-square foot Governor's Ballroom was later added in 2009/2010 at a cost of approximately $2M.
