Originally built in 1926, this beautiful historic building in downtown Hendersonville is constructed of steel, brick, and glass. Joines Motor Company (Ford dealer) originally occupied the space for new car sales and maintenance. Subsequently, the building housed Wetmur Motor Company, Chipman-LaCrosse Hosiery MIll, and Robotyper Corporation. Robotyper produced copies of documents prior to the invention of modern copy machines. The building was then sold to the Henderson County School System for use as administrative offices. The most recent occupant of the building was the Henderson County Land Planning and Zoning Department. In 2007 the property was then purchased and sat empty for 10 years.
In 2017 the property was purchased by its current owner for the purpose of adaptive re-use. This historic property is being meticulously restored to showcase original materials and unreplicated features dating back to the original construction.
This building is literally a piece of history in downtown Hendersonville.
