Mattress Firm, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded company, Mattress Firm Holding Corp., (NASDAQ: MFRM), that engages in the retail sale of mattresses and related products and accessories in the United States. It was founded in Houston, Texas in 1986. As of March 21, 2016, Mattress Firm operated and franchised approximately 3,500 company-operated and franchised stores across 40 states under the Mattress Firm and Sleep Train brand names. It sells over 75 different models and styles of conventional and specialty mattresses across a wide range of price points including brands such as Sealy, Simmons and Tempur-Pedic, which account for about 80% of total sales. Mattress Firm also sells bed frames and bedding accessories. With the largest geographic footprint in the U.S. among multi-brand mattress specialty retailers, Mattress Firm not only provides sleep solutions, but opportunities in hundreds of communities. In 2012 the company bought Mattress Giant in an acquisition valued at about $47 million. This purchase gave Mattress Firm an additional 180 stores in seven markets across Texas and Florida, where the company has already built a strong foundation. Pompano Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean just to the north of Fort Lauderdale. The nearby Hillsboro Inlet forms part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. As of the 2010 census the city' s population was 99,845, with an estimated population of 102,984 as of 2012. It is part of the Miami Metropolitan Area, which was home to 5,564,635 people in 2010. Pompano Beach is currently in the middle of a redevelopment process to revitalize its beachfront and historic downtown. The city has also been listed as one of the top real estate markets, being featured in CNN, Money and the Wall Street Journal as one of the country' s top vacation home markets. Pompano Beach Airpark, located within the city, is the home of the Goodyear Blimp Spirit of Innovation. In recent years, an effort to rejuvenate rundown areas near the city' s beach has gained momentum and has stimulated a multibillion dollar building boom. Community redevelopment agencies were established for the East Atlantic/Beach corridor, as well as for the old downtown and Hammondville/Martin Luther King corridor.
