Warehouse Facility Facts
About Port of Tacoma/Fife
The Port of Tacoma has emerged as one of the busiest ports in the country, making it one of the most sought-after industrial nodes in the Puget Sound region, particularly for logistics properties. The area serves as a gateway to Asian markets, and strong population growth in the Seattle area has helped propel activity in recent years.
Developers and tenants alike have expanded in the area, with firms such as Amazon, UPS, and Ashley HomeStore calling the port home. A significant amount of investment has occurred in the area and new spaces lease faster near the Port of Tacoma than just about anywhere else in the region.
Tenants find value in industrial nodes near the port, where rents are less expensive than areas closer to the region’s primary urban core in Seattle while offering proximity to maritime, rail, air and trucking modes of transport. Major thoroughfares like Interstate 5, SR-509, and The Valley Freeway allow for local and non-local distribution. The port is just over 30 miles from both Seattle and Olympia, and around 150 miles from both Portland and Vancouver, BC.
