DESCRIPTION

Marcus & Millichap is pleased to present: Route 333, Mifflintown, PA. 17059. APN 09-07-012 & 09-07-012 The subject property is a 272.32 acre tract of land location on Hawstone Rd. with the closest neighboring property address being 152 Hawstone Rd. Lewistown, PA. The subject property is known as “Trioplus Quarries” which is permitted for small Non-Coal (Industrial Minerals) Surface Mine. The current permit is for 5.0 acres. The current permittee may conduct noncoal surface mining activities only within the area of the approved application. The Trioplus resource area is located in Milford Township, Juniata County, also along the northern flanks of Blue Mountain. Blue Mountain in this area is the result of the creation of anticlinal structure with the axis of the fold trending in a northeast-southwest orientation. All bedding is steeply dipping and nearly vertical toward the northwest. Three formations have been identified on the property. These formations, in descending stratigraphic order, are the Rose Hill, Tuscarora, and Juniata formations. Because of the anticlinal structure, the Juniata formation is near the top of the mountain while the Rose Hill formation is located along the base of the mountain, near the northern property boundary. From the interpretation of the geologic mapping available for the site, the majority of the property is underlain by the Tuscarora formation. Each of the formations are described as follows. Rose Hill formation - olive to medium gray shale with interbeds of medium grayish red fine-grained sandstone units in the upper portion with an average thickness of 950 feet. Tuscarora formation - light gray quarzitic sandstone with a maximum thickness of 1,500 feet Juniata formation - brownish to grayish red sandstone, siltstone, and shale maximum thickness of 1,125 feet.
