The FDIC in December approved the 66 Billion merger between BB&T and SunTrust Bank. The new bank will be called Truist and will be headquartered in Charlotte, NC. This merger will create the 6th largest bank in the US. The combined company will operate under a new name and have around $442 billion in assets, $301 billion in loans and $324 billion in deposits. BB&T has approximately $175M in deposits at this location
