North State Communications, a North Carolina utility provider, currently owns and operates a data center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The facility services North State’s own network and production requirements and also serves a number of North State enterprise customers. North State Communications plans to sell this facility while retaining a partial tenancy over a 10-year term with multiple renewal options. The purchaser will take responsibility for the mechanical and electrical infrastructure and assume operations responsibility. The surplus capacity, available shell space and available office space would be made available to be leased to other tenants.
North State Communications has upgraded and meticulously maintained this facility since it was converted into a fully functional data center in 2014. It is one of the most connected buildings in the Raleigh-Durham area with more than 6 carriers serving the facility.
Additionally, the facility is served by the Lightower fiber ring, which provides direct, low-latency connectivity to the Research Triangle
Park, Ashburn, VA and Chicago, IL. The high-quality infrastructure in place today is also ready for expansion, with enough generation, mechanical and electrical capacity to double the size of the current critical load. Additional expansion can also be achieved within the existing powered shell space. With the existing infrastructure, in place revenue and low initial overhead, the asset is well-positioned for an opportunistic partner.
