The building was originally constructed of masonry and concrete walls which remain intact as the outer shell of the original building. It was originally built as a standalone bank building during World War II. It’s steel and concrete walls with safes in the interior remain intact. From 1988 until just a few years ago it served as the assembly hall and credit union location for the International Association of Longshoremen (I.L.A. Local 28). The front of the build is a partly open area and part offices. The rear of the structure has large storage areas with ground level overhead loading doors. Access to the rear truck area of the property is from Main Street. The building, as solid a structure as it is, suffers from a respectable, but nowhere near fatal, degree of deferred maintenance in other areas of its structure. It simply needs a new face lift and a purpose to serve. Location Description The building is situated at the northwest corner of E. Shaw Avenue and Main Street in Downtown Old Town Pasadena just one block north of Highway 225, a major freeway connecting the gulf coast Ports of Houston facilities to Houston and beyond. Shaw Avenue is a secondary thoroughfare traffic artery. Main Street is a main thoroughfare that connects the industry in the south ship channel area north of Highway 225 with the Pasadena/Deer Park/La Porte areas and the industrial areas of East Houston and the Bay Area to Texas City and Galveston.
