Location Overview: The city of Texarkana, Texas, is located in Bowie County, approximately 180 miles northeast of Dallas, Texas, and 70 miles north of Shreveport, Louisiana. It effectively functions as one-half of a city which crosses a state line, and the other half, the city of Texarkana, Texas, lies on the other side of State Line Avenue. The city, along with its Texas counterpart, forms the core of the Texarkana, TX-Texarkana, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area, encompassing all of Bowie County, Texas, and Miller County, Arkansas. In October of 2018, Arconic(5.8 miles) announced an agreement to sell its Texarkana, Texas rolling mill to Ta Chen International, for approximately $300 million in cash, plus additional contingent consideration of up to $50 million. Ta Chen International, the company focuses primarily on the distribution of stainless steel pipes, and valves which produce material primarily used to serve the industrial market. Lionchase Holdings Incorporated also announced in March of 2018 that it will build a $20-plus million 200,000 square-foot Frigitek Facility at TexAmericas (4.6 miles). This cold storage project will create among other linked industries within the food processing cluster who need access to cold storage supply chain services, and will provide additional leads from food processors, manufacturers, and distributors to locate to the greater Texarkana region.
