Back in 1994, Miriam Sternberg was a hospital nurse with a growing family. An immigrant from Moscow, she recognized a void that existed for many of her aging friends and neighbors and gathered a team of friends to provide home care services for them. That is how Caring Professionals began. Thr expertise and understanding of the Eastern European populations fueled their initial growth. Word of mouth spread in the Russian-speaking and Slavic communities that Caring Professionals took very good care of its patients and families recommended their services. Soon members of other communities, especially those from the Asian republics formerly within the Soviet Union, learned that they had aides who spoke their language and understood their culture. Caring Professionals became an active presence in these communities, participating in community events and providing health information and screenings at neighborhood sites.
