The Montana Club is located at 24 W 6th Ave. in historic downtown Helena. The original Montana Club was built in 1885 and was designed by John Paulsen and John Lavalle. When a fire destroyed the interior and significant portions of the exterior in 1903, Cass Gilbert redesigned the building. This 31,381 square foot, six-story building was rebuilt in 1905 and has stood since. This unique building has the same uses on each floor as it did historically; the only exceptions are on the 4th and 5th floors which were dormitories for the Montana Club members, now they are commercial office spaces.
