The Charleston, South Carolina industrial market base is comprised of 34.85 million square feet of both rentable space and user/owner-occupied facilities supporting manufacturing, warehousing and third party logistics. The market is comprised of three counties within South Carolina: Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester and covers a territory of over 3,163 square miles. Also referred to as the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville MSA, the metro region includes 90 miles of Atlantic coastline and stretches 50 miles inland toward the intersection of I-26 and I-95. The industrial market is anchored by the Port of Charleston terminal facilities located just inside the famous Charleston Harbor. The demand for both manufacturing and logistics space has ramped up considerably since the announcement by The Boeing Company in late 2009 to construct a Final Assembly campus for their new 787 Dreamliner commercial airliners.
