PROPERTY OVERVIEW

The Saddlery Building was built in 1881 by Mr. J. Rubelman of Muscatine, Iowa. He decided that Des Moines, with its 2 rivers and 13 railways, would be advantageous to his thriving saddler company. He was right, and ran a successful saddle, harness, and leather works company in our building for almost 20 years. Since that time, the building has also been home to a shoemaker, rubber company, stove manufacturer, glove company, the Krispy Kone Company and the Kaplan Hat Company. After the flood of 1993, during which the building housed 19 feet of water, the ground level was left vacant until 1996 when Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company started to move in its brewing equipment. The brew pubs décor celebrates the history of the building and brewing in Iowa. About Us 27-print-309 Court Ave-25.jpg Court Avenue Business Suites (CABS) is located in the heart of the Historic Court District in Downtown Des Moines. We opened in the Saddlery Building in 2002 and are run by Saddlery Properties. CABS started with the concept of “all inclusive” offices. We lease offices and conference rooms by the hour, day, month, week, year, etc. We want our tenants to move into our suites with minimal work. We provide the office, utilities, receptionist/secretary, copiers, fax, postage machines, phones and internet. Each tenant receives these amenities included in their monthly rental payment all on one bill. We also provide “virtual offices” to those who do not want the whole office experience but want a “presence” in downtown Des Moines. We are locally owned and operated delivering large business resources on small business budgets! We offer executive office space ranging from 140 square feet up to 2,000 square feet.
