Although, not a large town, Berwick-upon-Tweed is regarded as a principal market town serving north Northumberland and the eastern Scottish Borders. The town effectively serves a catchment of around 42,000 with a wide range of retail, leisure and banking services. It also has a significant tourism sector with the population reported to effectively double during summer months.
