About 333 S JEFFERSON ST , BATAVIA, IL 60510

Built in 1854, Bellevue Place is one of Batavia’s treasured buildings, registered on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976. Bellevue Place has an interesting history, beginning as a private boarding high school. When the school closed in 1867, the 16-acre estate was converted to a women’s mental hospital, famous for treating Mary Todd Lincoln after President Lincoln’s assassination. After the hospital closed, Bellevue Place was converted into a home for unwed mothers in 1966, but closed in the 1970s because of the building’s deterioration. By 1986, Bellevue Place was converted into 15 rental units, with townhomes being added around through the years. Located in Batavia; walking distance to downtown, Quarry Park, and the Fox River. Less than three miles to the Geneva train station. Less than five miles to I-88. Schools are Alice Gustafson Elementary, Sam Rotolo Middle School, and Batavia High School.
