This exceptional offering is a delightful 26 room Inn on the shores of Vermont’s Lake Champlain. Lake Champlain is the sixth largest body of water in the United States and for one shining moment, thanks to our Senator Leahy, it was proclaimed to be one of the Great Lakes. Unfortunately, that did not last very long and Congress removed the appellation!
The Inn has a very special feature of its own. Not only is it flush on the water of Lake Champlain, a portion of the Inn is in fact in the water. In 1891 a dock was built out into the lake to service ferries coming from the main land. The ferries are gone, but the Steamship Pier acts as al fresco dining and lounge and as a small marina base. The Steamship Pier remains a central feature of the Inn.
The Inn has facilities commensurate with its size and active business. There is a full commercial kitchen, public bathrooms in the main house, wine cellar, laundry facility, two offices and storage capacity in an outbuilding and five bay garage. Several marina slips and a sandy beach provide leisure time activities.
