A solid industrial base includes automotive suppliers, tool and die companies, construction materials companies, food service, warehousing, and packaging companies. The Westland Center, one of the country’s original four regional shopping malls, has anchored Westland’s commercial district for more than 30 years. Westland Center and the more than 130 stores in its surrounding retail base draw consumers from a 20-mile radius. The Applebee's is directly in the middle of this retail hub and a almost directly across the street from the mall. Anchor stores at Westland Center include JC Penney, Sears, and Kohl’s with specialty stores such as American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret and ULTA, among many others. More than 23,000 vehicles each day pass in front of Westland Center on Warren Road, while 35,000 vehicles per day pass along its frontage on Wayne road.
