This section of Highway 50 is the third most traveled street in Carson City. With the now completed Highway 50 widening and USA Parkway extension, Highway 50 provides southern access into the 107,000-acre Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC). Carson City is Nevada’s capital with a population of around 55,000. The Reno-Carson City-Fernley Combined Statistical Area has a population nearing 600,000. The completion of Interstate 580 through Washoe Valley reduced the drive between Carson City and Reno and its Reno-Tahoe International Airport to about thirty minutes. Google recently purchased 1,200 acres near Tesla for a future data center and Blockchain purchased the remaining 67,125 acres. TRIC is also home to major logistical centers for PetSmart, Home Depot, and Walmart, among a large number of other users. Apple currently operates a datacenter in the Reno Technology Park, adjacent to TRIC. Apple plans significant expansion to this facility. Carson City is well situated to enjoy the benefits of this unprecedented economic expansion.
