The Port contributes over $1 billion in total economic activity per year and supports 7,200 total jobs while shipping cargo to or from 44 states and 20 countries.In January 2016, Midwest Fertilizer Company LLC entered into an agreement with Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (USA), Inc. to design and build a state-of-the-art nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing facility in Mt Vernon, Indiana at an agreed aggregate price in excess of $2.0 billion. The facility is expected to be fully operational in 2020.
