"The provisions of the R2 single-family dwelling district are intended to apply to an area predominantly developed with single-family dwellings or which, by its location, trend of development or planned development designated in the comprehensive plan, is appropriate to such uses. The prevailing lot areas are intended to be smaller than those of the R1 district, and a greater variety of uses are permitted.
Strategically located on Florida’s east coast and bordered on the east by the picturesque Indian River and to the south by Viera, Brevard County’s newest community, the City of Rockledge. U.S. Highway 1 traverses through the heart of the commercial core of Rockledge, and there is an I-95 interchange just to the west of the City. US 1 is the primary thoroughfare in the area and it was constructed east of the railroad throughout the city. In 2010, this road was widened to six lanes throughout Rockledge with a landscaped median installed. Construction in 2010 cost ±$27.5 million for ±2.6 miles."
