Siemer Enterprises, Inc. (Siemer) started as a distribution company in 1945. Originally a division of Siemer Milling Company in Teutopolis, IL., it distributed agricultural products and feed to retail farm stores in the central Illinois area. In the 1960's Siemer began a feed manufacturing operation. Feeds produced included cattle, hog, chicken, horse and other animal stock. In the 1970's Siemer diversified its distribution and manufacturing products. Siemer started handling lawn and garden products sold to independent retail stores. In addition, it began production of wild bird seed mixes and included those as stock items it sold. Late in the 1970's Siemer brought in horticultural products and expanded it's customer base to greenhouses and other growing operations selling those items to greenhouses. Horticultural products include soils, pots and covering material.
