Grayson Corners is a 101,841+/- Sf, 100% leased Kmart anchored center located in Grayson, KY just off Interstate 64. Grayson, KY, the county seat of Carter County, is closely associated with the nearby Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH MSA being just 9 miles west of the MSA's western boundary. Grayson has grown in size substantially since the opening of Interstate 64 in 1975 through Carter County. Immediately afterwards, Grayson experienced several years of commercial sector growth to serve the Interstate 64 traffic. Since 1990, the city has also seen significant growth in the residential sector with the Interstate making for a faster trip to and from Ashland. One of the biggest boosts to the Eastern Kentucky region came recently when it was announced that Braidy Industries, Inc. will build a $1.3 billion aluminum mill in East Park (1,000+/- acre business park), which is approximately 7-miles from Grayson Corners. The 2.5 million square foot aluminum plant will be the lowest cost, highest quality aluminum mill in the U.S. At least 550 new jobs will be expected once the plant is completed by 2020, and the construction of the facility, which will begin in early 2018, will generate about 1,000 jobs (with many employees coming from Grayson). The Governor of Kentucky stated that the plant has the potential to be as significant as any economic deal ever made in the history of Kentucky. Braidy Industries says it was choosing between 24 cities in two states.
