In 2013, Alexandria was picked as a “Top 10 Best Small Town” by the Livability website. Alexandria lies 70 miles northwest from St. Cloud, and 132 miles northwest from the Twin-Cities Metro Area. Known as the Twin-Cities, the Minneapolis-St. Paul MSA is the 16th largest metropolitan area in the U.S., with approximately 3.4 million residents. The Twin Cities metro area if home to 17 fortune 500 companies, including Target, 3M,Medtronic, General Mills, Xcel Energy, Ameriprise Financial, and Land O’ Lakes.
