About 6404 INDIANA HIGHWAY 135 , NASHVILLE, IN 47448

The "Story" began in 1851 as a logging community with the grant of a land patent from President Millard Fillmore to Doctor George P. Story. Over time the community became a village, anchored by the general store and grist mill, and expanded to include a saw mill, slaughterhouse, and blacksmith shop. In late 1915, a fire wiped out the general store, only to be replaced with a 2-story structure which has withstood the test of time. Today the town of Story is Indiana's premiere county inn, and perhaps the best preserved example of the 19th Century village that survives in the American Midwest. It is being listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as the Story Historic District, effective in 2019. The town consist of 17.4 acres, dominated by: the General Store (Restaurant & Tavern), an old Grain Mill, Saw Mill, several Barns, Homes, Gardens & Orchards, fenced House Pastures and Run-ins, Out buildings, multiple Guest Accommodations (rooms & private cottages). Story is surrounded by Classified, State and National Forest, including the 15,776 acre Brown County State Park, with which is shares the historic "10 O'Clock Line" boundary... a treaty created by Governor William Henry Harrison and a consortium of native peoples , let by the Miami and Potawatomi Indian tribes. The Story Inn is certainly one of Indiana's best examples of a true farm-to-table Restaurant, and has been honored with "Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence." Story presently hosts a remarkable number of events each year, including the Indiana Wine Fair, Maple Syrup Festival, 40-50 weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, comedy shows, Indiana Trail Riders events, and much more...
