ABOUT NORWALK

A wealthy population bolsters Norwalk as an appealing retail destination. The city ranks in the top five percent for average family income among both all US and all Connecticut cities, which will help keep retail properties afloat as the nation ramps up vaccination efforts.

Norwalk has seen many top-tier tenants move in recently, particularly with the grand opening of the SoNo Collection mall. Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and H&M anchor the mall, with Apple and an Amazon 4-Star store moving in during 2020. Outside of the SoNo Collection, Lillian August and Temper-Pedic have flagship stores in Norwalk, with big box home goods retailers Home Depot, Lowe’s and CostCo maintaining significant footholds as well.

Beyond the SoNo Collection in downtown Norwalk, the city has also made a trendy push to the north with the development of Glover Avenue off the Merritt 7 train station. The area is being developed by Building and Land Technology as a “live, work, play” center, with apartments and offices next to a warehouse-turned pop up market. Dubbed the Junction at North Seven, the location offers local food truck and breweries alongside art. Between these two new marquee retail attractions, the future for Norwalk as a retail destination appears bright.
