The original buildings on this site were a one-story and two-story brick building with a common wall that were built in 1910 and 1920. Over time, these buildings were significantly altered. With the current renovation, the combined buildings are being returned to the original design of a deep recessed centered front door with angled glass displays. While the second floor is being converted to residential, the original exterior features were faithfully retained.
One of the unique features of this building is that it is located on Gourmet Alley. Working with nearby property owners, we are working to activate Gourmet Alley as a new downtown destination for shopping, dining and playing. So the interior has been designed so that the spaces can face Monterey Street, Gourmet Alley or both. This also provides a great deal of flexibility in the size of the space from several hundred feet pop-ups and spaces ranging from approximately 1,500, 3,000 or 6,000 SF with patio and outdoor seating available front and back.
These buildings have housed various uses over time ranging from a grocery store, clothing and shoe stores, barber shop, candy store and the Gilroy Telephone Company.
