This location is adjacent to Sturgeon Lake City Hall and near Sturgeon Lake Oil and Woodlands National Bank. Sturgeon Lake is located in Pine County, Minnesota with a total area of 3.69 miles. Sturgeon Lake has numerous restaurants and bars in the area. Some of these include Doc’s Bar and Grill, Ray & Marge’s Resort, Mikey’s Bar, Embassy Bar & Lounge, Earnie’s Diner, The Coop, and more. The city is named after the large lake that lies east of the downtown area. Covering 1405 acres with a max depth of 40 feet, the lake is a large attraction to those who do not live in the town. The lake is known for its array of fish including northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, sunfish, perch, and rock bass. Sturgeon Lake boasted the state record walleye for some time with a 16 pound eight ounce specimen caught in 1949. Sturgeon Lake is located about 50 miles from Duluth, Minnesota. At the westernmost point of the Great Lakes on the north shore of Lake Superior, Duluth is linked to the Atlantic Ocean 2,300 miles away via a series of canals along the Great Lakes. Duluth forms a metropolitan area with Superior, Wisconsin.
