Additional national tenants include Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, Best Buy, and JCPenney. New projects currently under construction include a $30 million indoor sports complex, a Menard’s home improvement store, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Starbucks, Xfinity, and several other retailers in the pipeline. Recent additions include an extended stay Hawthorn Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Five Guys, Kay Jewelers, GNC, Sprint, Sally Beauty, Great Clips, and other retailers. There are approximately 900 hotel rooms within a 1.5 mile radius. The average daily traffic count for I-70 is 52,166 vehicles. The Highlands is uniquely situated in the Wheeling area as the only major retail center in Ohio County, and because of topography and lack of developable land in the region, it is well-positioned to remain a healthy retail center for the foreseeable future.
