DESCRIPTION
Prior to the 1960s, the Site was used for agricultural/ pastoral purposes and as a brickworks. Post 1960s, the Site contained two power stations, which were cleared to ground level in the early 2000s. The Site is currently derelict, with some remnant structures remaining. Further information is available on the brochure. The Site falls under the planning jurisdiction of Hastings Borough Council. The Site is allocated in the Hastings Proposals Map for residential development under site reference HOV2 - Ore Valley, with a possible net capacity of 50 units. The regeneration of the wider Ore Valley area has been a long term objective of Hastings Borough Council, which was formerly enabled by the Millennium Communities Programme. Through this programme the Sussex Coast College and first phase of housing has been developed, but the HOV2 allocation remains, with the HOV1 allocation at the Former Stills Factory now being developed into 101 residential dwellings.
