DESCRIPTION
Hayes Lane is situated circa 4 miles to the South East of Barry Town Centre and the new Waterfront Development. The area is an established business location and is situated on the coast with views across the Bristol Channel to Somerset. Located approximately 8 miles west of Cardiff and is accessed via the B4267 and the A4055. Junction 33 of the M4 motorway is located approximately 8 miles to the north of the estate and is accessed via the A4050 and the A4232 dual carriageway. The site comprises Net 6.6 acres (2.6 ha) Gross 11.6 acres (4.7 ha) incorporating a variety of buildings constructed by the Royal Naval Reserves as a training facility. The majority of the buildings were originally constructed as dwelling houses for naval personnel in post war years. They are of traditional construction for their age and type the main walls being of cavity construction having brick faced elevations under pitched timber roofs with tiled coverings. The main building consists of former offices and large offices mess hall, suitable for training, lectures, functions etc. Buildings 3-8 comprises former naval personnel accommodation with garden area. To the south of the site is an ancillary building that was formerly used for storage. South of the site consists of an open plan grassland that leads to the shoreline.
