The Old Militia Stables is a two storeyed, traditionally constructed stone and slate built detached former stables that was tastefully converted in 1986 to provide well appointed commercial accommodation. It retains a number of the original features including the front archways and bandolier boxes together with exposed detailing to the internal face of the stonework. In recent years the premises have been occupied as a hairdressing salon trading as Little Gem together with an associated beautician/aesthetics business.
The Old Militia Stables is situated off the south east corner of the Eastern Lane public car park and benefits from a central position within Berwick upon Tweed. The premises are accessed either from Hide Hill via a shared covered vennel, or from a dedicated entrance off the car park itself. Interested parties should note that Northumberland County Council has categorically stated that full, unencumbered access will be maintained at all times across the public car park in the event that the proposed Maltings reconstruction project proceeds.
