About the Property
The grade II listed George Hotel in Huddersfield is one of the most well known buildings in the town. Built in 1851 the imposing building acts as a gateway to the town centre from the main railway station adjacent. In 1895 it hosted a meeting between 21 rugby league clubs from Lancashire and Yorkshire when it was decided to leave the main Rugby Football Union and set up their own Northern Rugby Football Union which eventually became know as Rugby League.
