Andrew McCarthy is the Founder of Freshwater Development, where he leads the company’s acquisition, finance, design, construction, and asset management efforts across all projects. With more than 15 years of experience in New York City development and construction, Andrew has overseen nearly $4 billion in real estate projects, including iconic developments such as 111 West 57th Street, 432 Park Avenue, and 1 Boerum Place. His work spans over 500 luxury residential units, reflecting a deep commitment to quality, innovation, and urban design. Prior to founding Freshwater, Andrew served as Executive Vice President at SDX Real Estate, where he directed a national development portfolio across New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and Palm Beach. He previously held the role of Vice President at Avery Hall Investments, managing large-scale residential projects in New York City, including 1 Boerum Place. Earlier in his career, he was a Project Manager at JDS Development, overseeing the construction of 111 West 57th Street, and a Project Architect at Rafael Viñoly Architects, contributing to the design of 432 Park Avenue. Andrew holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University, as well as a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University and was recently recognized by Crain’s New York Business as a Notable Leader in NYC Real Estate. He resides in Traverse City, Michigan and Brooklyn, New York with his wife Kelley and their two sons, Matthew and Ryan. Outside of his professional work, Andrew is an avid high-altitude climber, having summited Denali, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Rainier, and other notable peaks.
