Dr. Thorpe is an exciting and welcome addition to the outstanding team at Shields Family Dentistry. A native of Southwestern Michigan, Dr. Thorpe grew up on Diamond Lake in Cassopolis. He attended Western Michigan University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. With apologies to his native Michigan, Dr. Thorpe chose to complete his four years of additional training at Ohio State University, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. During his years at dental school, Dr. Thorpe volunteered much of his time at various public health centers in the underserved community. In 2010, Dr. Thorpe travelled to Africa to provide dental treatment to people in Kampala, Uganda.
Dr. Shields and Dr. Thorpe began their professional relationship in the Spring of 2013. They share a desire to provide exceptional dental care while cultivating a comfortable, respectful environment throughout the office. Both strive to maintain a standard of excellence through community outreach, continued individual growth, and compassionate care for their valued and loyal patients.
