Bio
Dean Giannakopoulos is a First Vice President of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC) and IPA Capital Markets, based in the firm’s Chicago Downtown office. He joined MMCC in March 2011 and has more than 12 years of commercial real estate finance experience. As a First Vice President, Mr. Giannakopoulos is responsible for securing commercial debt and equity financing for an array of property types including multifamily, retail (single-tenant net-lease and multi-tenant), office, industrial, seniors housing and hospitality. He is well connected with national, regional and local funding sources including, but not limited to, agency lenders (e.g. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac), commercial banks, CMBS lenders, life insurance companies, private and public funds and bridge lenders.
Mr. Giannakopoulos has structured and closed more than 175 transactions since joining MMCC, and has participated in excess of $2 billion in financings over his career. He received sales recognition awards in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 as well as earned a National Achievement Award in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and has ranked as one of the top 10 loan originators in the firm for the past five years consecutively.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Giannakopoulos served as an analyst and originator with a boutique mortgage banking firm, and as a loan officer with a national lender.
Mr. Giannakopoulos is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association, the International Council of Shopping Center and is a licensed real estate broker.
