James joined Associated Architects in 2002, returning in 2008 after two years abroad, and became a Director in 2012.
He works primarily in the commercial and higher education sectors, leading projects for clients including Bruntwood, Linkcity, Anthology, and universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, and Leeds. James has extensive experience in sustainable design, advising on Passivhaus and low-energy construction for new builds and refurbishments, and has presented at Passivhaus Trust events.
He sits on the BCO Midlands regional committee and previously judged its awards programme. As Director responsible for IT, James led the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the practice and has shared insights at BIM Show Live.
