Jim is a graduate of SMU with a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. Following five years as an engineer with Collins Radio (Rockwell International) and three years of executive management with the Fairmont Hotel Corporation, he began his real estate career in 1971, specializing in farms & ranches. He founded James M. Brown Company, Inc. (the predecessor to James M. Brown Partners, Inc.) in 1972. Jim has specialized in land brokerage and development through related company Spring Haven Investments Inc. for nearly forty years in the DFW real estate market.
Jim is past president of the Ellis County Board of Realtors and a past member of the Board of Governors of the Commercial-Investment Division of the Grater Dallas Board of Realtors (predecessor to NTCAR). Today Jim is active in NTCAR and is a founding member of the Land Council of North Texas.
