Jim joined Cherry & Associates in 2006 and has transacted more than $100 million dollars during his tenure. He has also developed specific asset and leasing strategies tailored to his clients’ needs that have added efficiency and significant monetary value for his clients. Jim’s focus early in his career was Tenant Representation Services, which involves a great deal of research and market knowledge. Through his research and experience, he gained a reputation as a specialist in retail and restaurant representation in Middle Tennessee and all over the State.
Jim’s current and past clients and development relationships range from having a local, regional, national, and international presence and have included the following tenants: HH Gregg, Noodles and Co., National Tire & Battery (NTB), Cracker Barrel, Newk’s Eatery, Lockeland Table, Blue Coast Burrito, Mattress Firm, Lyfe Kitchen, Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee, Panera, and Davita Healthcare Partners to name a few.
During the past 10 years Jim has been very active in both the commercial and residential side of the development business. These projects include the development of new construction, Class A climate controlled self-storage facilities, build to suits for national credit tenants, and numerous urban townhome developments. During the last 2 years Jim has acquired and is under construction with projects combining a total development value of more than $50 million dollars. Today Jim owns numerous commercial assets in and around Middle Tennessee which he continues to lease and manage several of these assets himself.
Jim is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where he graduated Cum Laude with a triple major in the following disciplines: Managerial Finance, Real Estate, Insurance/Risk Management. He also received his M.B.A. in 2005 from The University of Mississippi. During M.B.A. school, Jim was selected into the Management Associate Program at AmSouth Bank which later became Regions Bank. He spent almost two years in the commercial credit side of the banking business where he assisted with the management of a debt portfolio of companies with revenues of $10 million - $2billion with more than $75 million dollars in credit facilities.
Jim is very active in the local community and has been invovled in the following organizations: Board Member of Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee, Board Member of Make-A-Wish of Middle TN, United Way Sennet Society, Phoenix Club of Nashville, Boys and Girls Club of Nashville, and the Ole Miss Alumni Association. He lives in Nashville, TN with his wife Elsa and their two daughters Halle and Linley.
