Michael Schecter serves as Chief Legal Officer at Morgan Properties. In this role, he oversees legal compliance, transaction structuring, and legal aspects of acquisitions, including negotiating joint venture agreements and conducting due diligence. He also manages the legal function and has responsibility for risk management activities. Mr. Schecter plays a key role in joint ventures, acquisitions, financings, dispositions, material litigation, and serves on management and investment committees.
Prior to joining Morgan Properties, Michael Schecter was a co-founder and Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of DiamondRock Hospitality Company, a NYSE-listed REIT, where he helped lead a $210 million private placement, initial public offering, and subsequent equity offerings. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Counsel at Marriott International, practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, and clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He graduated with a JD from Cornell University and a BA in History from Bates College.
