Mr. Mitchell joined The Chiofaro Company in 1985 as the Director of Tenant Construction for the Company's 1.8 million square foot International Place project. Mr. Mitchell has been in the real estate business for over thirty-five years. He has overall responsibility for the design and construction of all projects at The Chiofaro Company. Currently managing the design and permitting of the Harbor Garage redevelopment, Mr. Mitchell's responsibilities continue to include all tenant improvement work at International Place, as well as all capital projects at International Place and the Harbor Garage. During his years at The Chiofaro Company, Mr. Mitchell has played an integral role in the management and execution of a wide variety of projects, both directly and acting in a consulting capactiy. These include: Initial design and construction of International Place. 3-4 million square feet of tenant improvement work at International Place and the company's suburban projects. Multiple suburban build-to-suit corporate headquarters buildings in the company's suburban office parks in Westborough and Westford, Massachusetts, totaling over one million square feet. Development and construction of a project for New England Biolabs, comprising a new 160,000 square foot molecular biology laboratory/headquarters building containing 250 undergound parking spaces, a state-of-the-art wastewater treatement facility and a renovated 30,000 square foot historic mansion. The project was one of the first laboratory buildings in the country to achieve LEED® certification. Leasing, design and construction for State Street Bank, Proteon and, most recently, Varian Semiconductor in Gloucestor, MA. Relocation of the Central Artery High Street ramp, which cleared the way for the construction of the second phase of International Place. Mr. Mitchell's work on the relocation of the ramp earned his project team a design award from the American Consulting Engineers Council. Prior to joining The Chiofaro Company, Mr. Mitchell worked with the Turner Construction Company for eight years in both Philadelphia and Boston, where he had project management responsibilities for many downtown and suburban buildings. Mr. Mitchell resides in Ipswich, Massachusetts with his wife and has two adult children. He is very active in local civic affairs, recently serving on the Ipswich Building Committee, which managed the construction of a new $32 million high/middle school. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
