Bio
I’m Steve Sanchez, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, public servant, and commercial real estate agent focused on investment sales and economic growth across the Coachella Valley and Yucca Valley.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, I enlisted in the Marine Corps at 19 and served eight years in the infantry and as a scout in a Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR)unit, including a deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF1) in 2003. My service earned me the Combat Action Ribbon and Presidential Unit Citation, and instilled the discipline, resilience, and leadership mindset that guides how I operate today.
In business, I specialize in commercial real estate investment sales, including multifamily, retail, office, hospitality, land, restaurant, and industrial properties. I work with investors, developers, and business owners to identify opportunities, analyze value, and execute transactions that drive long-term growth. I focus on delivering results in competitive and evolving markets.
In public service, I’ve served on the La Quinta City Council since 2016 and am currently in my third term. I also serve as a Commissioner and former Chair of Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), Vice Chair of the Southern California LAFCO region, Board Member of CALAFCO, Vice Chair of the Riverside County Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC), and SCAG District 66 representative and Transportation Committee member. My work centers on land use, infrastructure, regional planning, and ensuring efficient, accountable government services. I also serve on the Coachella Valley Animal Campus Commission, working with county and regional partners toward a no-kill shelter.
I’m a strong advocate for veterans and was honored as Veteran of the Year for both California’s 28th Senate District and 42nd Assembly District in 2018. I continue working alongside fellow veterans throughout the Coachella Valley to strengthen coordination and expand access to services.
My day starts at 3:40 a.m. with a one-hour walk/run with my 3 rescue dogs (Sparta, Katana, and Romulus), followed by weight training, jiu jitsu, Peloton, Pilates (BroLates) or Lagree, and sometimes a nice run; that discipline carries into everything I do.
Outside of work, I study history, from ancient Rome, Greece, Medieval England to the Samurai and the American Republic, drawing lessons on leadership, strategy, and human behavior. I’m also passionate about language learning and wine, holding a WSET Level 1 certification (although I’m on a no-alcohol sabbatical).
I believe in limited government, accountability, and strong communities. Everything I do is focused on delivering results and strengthening the Republic.
To me, leadership is simple: you don’t stand above people, you stand with them, shoulder to shoulder, every step of the way.
