Michael S. “Stoney” Petit II, knows how hard work maximizes the value of an investment. By combining unrelenting drive with a strong skill set, Stoney will provide an elevated level of representation for his clients, to capitalize on opportunities for investment in and the use of recreational property. Stoney started working in an owner/ operator custom homebuilding business in 2001 as the only full time employee. After seven years of learning the ins and outs of high end residential construction, he entered into a buyout agreement with the owner. Stoney took over operations between 2010-2012, developing a corporate structure and converting the business into a scalable and sellable enterprise with over 20 employees over the next 10 years. In addition to Stoney growing a successful business, he became an expert in residential construction. Stoney’s business, Anderson Homes, (AndersonCustomHomeBuilder.com) became the leader in their market for luxury custom homes. Not only were the homes and their finishes beautiful , but they were some of the highest performance rated luxury homes in the state. Many projects were also designed and constructed on acreage, involving extensive site development and installation of infrastructure. While Stoney has settled into his role of facilitating the design of Anderson Homes’ projects, he is ready to pursue additional passions. From a young age, Stoney always had to be outdoors. He grew up hunting and fishing with his dad and brother, backpacked extensively through college and guided fishing for a season in Alaska. As an adult, he has continued to hunt and fish all over Texas and North America and prides himself on being a steward of our natural resources. In fact, Stoney’s main reason for entering into his homebuilding career was the desire to not sit behind a desk. However, the more he grew his business, the more anchored to his office he became. Stoney would find himself going on drives out of town to take a break from the grind of the office. Thus began his interest in finding a piece of land he could call his own; a place where he could relax after work and enjoy being outside. Stoney soon bought a 2 acre lot about 10 miles outside of the city limits, south of Beaumont. Shortly after the purchase, he met his wife, Ellen. As their relationship grew, one hiccup was that she had no desire to live out of town. When Stoney looked into selling his lot, he discovered it was worth twice what he paid for it just two short years prior. This is when Stoney became very interested in real estate investment. Stoney eventually convinced Ellen to move out to “the country”. In 2018, they bought a 20 acre piece of property with a barndominium and a barn. And, in the last 5 years, they have bought an adjacent 20 acres, built their dream home, and developed the land into a small but mighty cattle operation. Most importantly, they found out how much they could enjoy raising their daughters, Mae Martin and Etta, in a rural setting. Stoney and Ellen’s dream home has reclaimed brick and antique pine trim on the exterior that contribute substantially to the overall character of the house. The brick and wood were salvaged from a 130 year old building Stoney bought as an investment in downtown Beaumont. Upon ultimately determining that the building wasn’t structurally sound to withstand necessary renovations, Stoney demolished the building and sold the lot for a profit, plus kept the reclaimed materials to make the dream home truly one of a kind. Several more real estate deals later, that include 3 rural developments and ownership of a couple of commercial buildings, Stoney is ready to combine his expertise, passions, interests, and values into a new career. Stoney is now a licensed real estate agent with Texas Ranch Sales, LLC. It is Stoney’s aim to combine his knowledge, capability, attention to detail and customer service to help investors, with an interest in ranching, hunting and fishing, to maximize the use and utility of land development.
