Anchor Health Properties, a firm that for more than 25 years has been devoted exclusively to the development of medical facilities, actually evolved from a retail development company – an evolution that had much to do with their becoming a very different kind of healthcare development company, and leader in the industry. The founders of Anchor Health Properties, Lou Sachs and Paula Crowley, began their development careers at the Rouse Company of Columbia, Maryland, an organization nationally recognized for its landmark retail centers, such as Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston and Harborplace in Baltimore, as well as many other innovative urban and suburban retail development across the country. After leaving Rouse, Mr. Sachs and Ms. Crowley formed the firm which has become Anchor Health Properties – a company based in the tradition of retail customer service. Their development process incorporates many of the principles that are basic to the creation of a successful retail center.
