Crescent Real Estate is a privately held, fully integrated real estate investment, development, and operations firm headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, with a secondary office in Denver. Founded in 1994 by John Goff, Crescent initially operated as Crescent Real Estate Equities, a public REIT listed on the NYSE before being acquired by Morgan Stanley in 2007. Goff reacquired Crescent in 2009 and restructured it as a private investment platform. In 2016, Crescent launched its GP Invitation Fund I, raising $200 million in equity to provide more than $4 billion in purchasing power, followed by Fund II in 2019 with $250 million in commitments.
The company’s investment strategy emphasizes flexibility across property types and capital structures, targeting Class A assets in high-growth U.S. markets. Crescent focuses on office, hospitality, multifamily, and mixed-use developments, complemented by selective life science and resort residential projects. Its vertically integrated model enables Crescent to manage acquisitions, development, and asset management internally, leveraging deep institutional relationships and long-standing operational expertise.
Crescent’s portfolio includes marquee assets such as The Crescent in Dallas, McKinney & Olive, Platte Fifteen in Denver, and luxury hospitality properties like Hotel Crescent Court and The Ritz-Carlton Dallas. Recent expansions include premium select-service hotels and large-scale office acquisitions in Uptown Dallas.
Top market exposures include Dallas–Fort Worth, Denver–Boulder, and Raleigh, which collectively represent a significant share of Crescent’s holdings.
