Edison Properties helps neighborhoods, and the neighborhoods help them. When their co-founder Jerry Gottesman began the company in 1956, he didn’t plan to lead a real estate empire. He intended to run a customer-focused parking business with his brother Harold. That first parking lot on Edison Place in Newark, New Jersey, adjacent to Newark Penn Station, was ideally situated to serve the many businesses in the area. It also gave the brothers inspiration for the name of their own business—Edison Properties. Today, Edison Properties continues the mission of rising together back to where it all started. In 2019, they completed work on transforming a large warehouse into the Ironside Newark building in downtown Newark, New Jersey. The building houses cutting-edge office and retail space as well as their new headquarters, so they can continue to invest in the rebirth of New Jersey’s largest city.
