Originally incorporated in 1992 as High Plains Development and Port Authority, the organization was renamed Great Falls Development Authority (GFDA) in 2002. GFDA is a public-private partnership whose mission is to lead Great Falls economic development efforts to promote growth, diversification and the creation of high wage jobs. Their trade area includes 13 counties stretching from the eastern slope of the Rockies to the Alberta border in the north.
